It'd be nice if Kagami had been written for a non-generic, expressive song, instead of J-POP tripe.

It seems like these guys know big words, but they don't care to put in the effort to make wonderful songs. I mean, why would they when thousands of otakus poor out their wallets JUST to hear their favorite character's seiyuu sing in their favorite character's voice?

It'd just be nice if these songs didn't go out of character, if they are "sincere" (i.e., in context with happenings in the anime). There is no hope, however. This IS Kyoto Animation.

Manga's portrayal of ALL of the characters is superior, because they are much more rounded in the manga, and not just either "tsun tsun" or "dere dere", or some extreme, for no apparent reason.

It wasn't 100% nai nai nai

Kagami's 100% nai nai nai wasn't out of character. It was a hint for us otakus that Kagamin has feelings for Konata(Of course...We don't know what kind.) The Dare dare dare ni part was a very big hint for us. Ehehehe...There are picture revealing a Konata X Kagami paring and it's not FAN ART. Look for the group picture around the web that has ALL female school girl characters in rakisuta and Konata and Kagami are the ONLY ones staying in the right side of the picture while the rest of the characters stayed at the left.

You may have said this months ago, but I still think you're a jerk for saying it. This is a translation given to us by a fan who was kind and willing enough to put out the work and post it. It is not a forum for you to complain. Whether or not the manga is better than the anime has nothing to do with her translation, and it's your own problem. You should go bitch somewhere else. At the very least, you should have thanked the translator for her post.

And I say thanks for the translation, because -I- actually liked this song and I'm glad to know what she was singing about. Maybe gladder than I should be. :)

i think the song is in character, because you get hints all the way through the series that Kagami likes Konata, but not nessacerrily in that way (sorry about my spelling)

Eh...I see people talking about KagamixKonata all the time, but I honestly don't think that's what the creators intended. I just think that they're good friends is all. It's been shown several times in the series that Kagami is kinda lonely and that's what this song is exemplifying. Plus, if she really liked Konata in that way, why would she have gotten so worked up over that "love letter" she got on the bus when they were on that field trip? Anyways, it's just my opinion. Unless I see anything official on it, my stance is that they're friends.

In my opinion, I do think that Konata and Kagami are just friends. However, there was a lot subtle hints that does suggest that Kagami likes Konata in that way. Whether the KonataxKagami pairing is what the creators wanted to do, I'm not sure. However, there's a number of interesting art, to say the least, in Megami magazine involving Konata and Kagami that's official. There is a reason why Kagami was worked up about the "love letter", however what you think is the reason might not be the reason. Anyway, back to my point. I didn't believe that Kagami likes Konata, until I read the comment of Jacksonman pointing it out. He also didn't believe that Kagami likes Konata when he watched the series the first time, until he heard people talking about it. Then he took another look at the series and was convinced that Kagami actually does likes Konata. Perplexed by his change of opinion, I took another look at the series and became convinced myself. Ironically enough, there were 3 other people that I seen on other sites talking about the Konata and Kagami relationship who said the same thing that Jacksonman said. They didn't think that there was anything yuri related in the KonataxKagami relationship. However, they took another look at the series and were convinced from Kagami's view, at least, that there really was something yuri in their relationship which was interesting. Take another look at the series, I think you'll be surprised by what you'll find that you overlooked I was.

I think you might be looking into it a little too deeply, although it seems quite possible the creators were trying to give a subtle impression of that none-the-less.

As for why I don't think Kagami thinks of Kona-chan like that, just think back to episode 7 when Konata was hooked on Marimite. "Gonna hurl..." Kagami thought. There's also the fact that Kagami and Konata do think about guys throughout the series--a few instances:

Episode 5: Konata was going to shoot the booth-guy at the carnival, because he said you could have anything you hit. They were later depressed when they found out their teacher had no boyfriend, "There really isn't a shred of romance around us..."
Episode 6: Konata seemed rather openly hoping someone would hit on them, and later in the bath, Kagami points out that Konata's child-like swimsuit is probably why no one did. "So Kagami wanted someone to hit on her," Konata worked out, impishly xD.
Episode 15: With the gold-fish... you know, Kagami fantasizing that her pet fish would come back to thank her as a male human for taking good care of it, because Konata mentioned an anime involving said plot. ...Just typing that down is pretty funny, I loved the Gold-Fish jokes (*Gold-fish plashes around violently* "It'd be a problem if he showed up as a wife beater..." priceless =) ).
And of course, episode 21 with the supposed love-note. Kagami Was focused only on that note until she finally found out the actual reason--and she certainly thought it was a guy, not than Konata (if she thought that, even subconsciously, she'd at least have thought of Kona slightly). I felt pretty bad seeing her shocked reaction when she discovered the truth O.O"...

Anyway, that's my opinion on it, and little can sway my opinion on this matter. Normally I'd be more annoyed about people assuming such things without proper evidence, but this case is more ambiguous so I don't really mind.
